What can i do?

Q. Whenever, wherever they want, they plant the bombs and blow them off. Are we really helpless?

No. They do this because of lack of education. They do this because they think  that a cause is more important than a human life. There are many ways that this can stop… here are some:

1. Many people have to go through the Art of Living training and learn to value life. I have had quite a few (muslim) students who have been approached by these  terror outfits to join them and they have refused because they have this Knowledge… So go out of your way to bring Art of Living in people’s lives… You may prevent a person from becoming a terrorist!

2. When many, many people meditate on a very regular basis, then that increases the Satva in the environment. There have been studies and experiments done to prove this. A group of 10,000 people meditated in rotation for about a month in a city in the US, and the crime rate in that city dropped dramatically, “normal” crime dropped by 35% and violent crime between 38% and a staggering 85%. So if you have learned to meditate, see that you do it everyday!! You may just have a hand in preventing a bomb blast!

3. Organizations and governments need to drop their pseudo secular stance, by encouraging everyone to learn to meditate, do Sudarshan Kriya… Some classify Art of Living as “religious” or “Hindu” and they are doing so at the peril of the security and safety of our country and the world in general. Art of Living is a purely spiritual orgnization, has nothing to do with religion and will always stand up for whatever is right! If you are working in any organization, please see to it that you initiate and carry through the training of Art of Living wherever you work or study. This becomes mush easier if you excel at your chosen field. So exceling at work or studies becomes of paramount importance, because, then as far as society is concerned your words have weight… and you can use that to make people learn how to breathe :) … Who would have thought those good grades could help prevent a bomb blast huh?!

4. Everyone needs to develop the attitude that: The ONLY thing we will not tolerate is intolerance! It is intolerance, a non verifiable concept of God, a childish concept of an angry and vengeful God who will reward few people in the hereafter and punish everyone else… Everyone needs to realise that everyone and everything is God’s creation and He is not going to get any kick out of people killing each other in His name… We definitely follow one path, but we respect all… we learn from all.

5. We need learn to celebrate diversity and soak in the richness of diversity. Let go of the notion that everyone should be like me, that everyone should beileve in what i believe, that you are “good” only if you are on my “team”. We should wonder at the diversity there is and seek to preserve it. And at the same time realise that basically we are all part of a universal spirit first… gender, race, nationality, religion are all secondary and really not worth fighting about. The diversity there is has been created for our pleasure, and is not to be destroyed!

6. Look for the similarities in different belief systems and come together with those and then celebrate the differences… Most so called leaders have become arrogant and spend all their time in finding differences in what they believe and what others believe and then become very creative in finding ways to undermine, insult and destroy the other. These leaders really need to be dethroned, because they are a disgrace to the faith they represent and a blot on the humanness of humanity. All of us have to learn to understand that there are many ways to the Truth, and that Truth itself is multifaceted and beyond any logic. And we need leaders who will teach this to their flocks instead of the we are right, they are wrong.

7. Everyone has to vote! We all have to take responsibility about who we are choosing to govern our country on our behalf. The reason that the government and the politicians are doing minority appeasement, is because the vast majority doesn’t vote! So, until we have politicians who are really interested in the good of the country and who are ready to serve instead of rule, we citizens have to make our voices heard through our voting. The automatically, these power hungry people will be compelled to wield their power to serve the good of all, rather than appease the minority.

8. Whenever the media does an unfair or biased reporting about an event, we the people, should utterly flood their mail boxes and choke their telephone lines and tell them that we don’t appreciate such sensationalism in the news.

The biggest problem i think is that we don’t DO all these things that we know we should be doing. We ourselves are lazy, and we don’t want to move… and it’s always so very easy to become a victim and blame other people… All of us have it within us to stop this terror, if we only get up and start doing something about it,  rather than just moaningand groaning and complaining about it…

So, breathe and meditate, get people to breathe and meditate, get people to get people to breathe and meditate, take responsibility for governance by voting and media by expressing outrage at sensationalism, involve more people into this process, educate lovingly and patiently, have zero tolerance for intolerance, stop complaints and being in victim consciousness, get up and take action.

Most importantly Pray. Prayer has the power to transform even the most rigid individual. But don’t get stuck only praying… prayer coupled with intelligent action can move the entire planet!

Guruji’s closing remark in His speech at the Millennium Peace Summit at the UN in New York was: “I pray AND i take responsibility!”

Jai Gurudeva!

love

I was just thinking about all this when i read about the delhi bomb blasts….i agree that meditation and getting people to do sudarshan kriya, spreading awareness and being more responsible citizens and not just victims is the solution to this… but bau these things will take long… what is the immediate solution.. i feel angry cozz the government is not taking strict action… people responsible for spreading terrorism should be caught immediately and put behind bars and …not letting any more blasts happen should be our motto…would we give such a cool reaction if someone was planting bombs in our house again and again??? how do we get the present government to concentrae on these important issues??!!!!

  7. Dear Bau,

When I came to know about Delhi Blasts, I was upset and thought how could we under the banner of AOL avoid such instances of heinous crime and utter ignorance.
And now I know how to go about it. :)

    Lots of Love.

Just back from the the Yes ++ course in Ashram, Read your blog on the “necessity” to bring more and more people to this knowledge…Truly taken as it already was, Here is my conversation (on SMS) with my Boss when I landed in Cal yesterday morning: (Too good not to share with the world)

Amit : Boss just landed in cal, will be in office by 9.

Boss: Hope you are not too dissappointed coming back to this world.

Amit: Its like Neilarmstrong had to come back to earth atleast to tell people about his being there and “enlighten” them.

Boss: Lol, there are controversies on Neil ever landing on Moon.

Amit: Let there be. There are doubts on all good things. Like when you say “I love you”, you are most likely to get a doubting look then when you say “I hate you”

Boss: You are all set to Sri Sri, Do let me know when your next course is happening.

    WOW BAU!!!
    Thats so true…
“UNITY IN DIVERSITY” seems to be a long lost dream.and when we have our so called leaders and the media then the unity becomes like finding a pin in a haystack…
and 1 more thing i would say which i have come across is that many people are mistaken that Art Of Living is a religious(hindu) organization which is very wrong.
Sometimes it also does happen that a few friends of mine(muslims) are more than willing to do the course but they can not do it just because of their parents.i myself have spoken to a few parents of my friends but was unable to convince them regarding the same.and this is not once but many a times i have faced the same problem and it is quite disturbing..
What should i do in such situations???

  10. Rima says:

    Bawa,

As it says that spreading awareness about Art of living in people might make an impact. But I feel that Art of Living institution is only for a particular class of society. For the society who already is aware of right vs wrong. These people only come for their self devlopment and self awareness. I have hardly seen any minority or a lower class people indulging into Art of Living.

It s just that people who already have everything and have lost meaning to their lives come to Art of Living but how does it help educating the poor, low class who cannot pay fee to have a art of living course.

  11. Anand Jage says:

Part of the solution could also be with change in the attitude of media… our news channel hardly report good constructive news..
Unfortunately they dont understand what they are paying attention to!!! But we are equally responsible! Coz we watch their news! I was quite impressed with tata tea ad.. If you are sleeping have tea get up and go vote!

  12. sakshi says:

    Dear Bau,
I was really near to the place the blasts happened…. I was thinking what if I had got killed too… and really telling you, there was no fear at all.
I didn’t even feel sad for the ones who got killed…well knowing that death is not to be afraid of(after the advanced course). I did feel sad and helpless in order to stop the ones who did it.
I shall now pray and take responsibility.
    Thank you
    Jai Gurudev!

  13. khurshed says:

    Rima
How can you say that Art of Living is only for a particular class of society?! Have you not heard about the absolutely brilliant work that has been done in the far flung tribal areas of India and parts of Africa? or about the regular courses that are being offered in prisons in many parts of the world? or about the slum rehab program carried out not only in slums of India but even in places like New York, LA and Brazil?!

Only 2 types of people don;t qualify for Art of Living:
    1. People who are already enlightened… We touch their feet, seek blessings from them and learn from them.
    2. People who have stopped breathing… though i am pretty sure Guruji has some courses going on on the other side as well! :)

I maintain that this Knowledge, the Knowledge of Indian spirituality is one of the (or perhaps the ONLY) way to combat acts of inhumanity! Art of Living is for everybody!

    Jai Gurudeva!

  14. Seema says:

Wow Bau, Not only is there fire in the words but also such PRACTICALITY – both so important for people who are sleeping & pseudo-intellectuals.I am not wrong when i quote about you to youngsters saying that he’s a fireball who triggers more of them (a leader who creates more leaders :-) .Formidable.

  15. Amit says:

…And finally a motivation to get good grades!!

  16. divya says:

Thanx a lot Bau for these wonderful solutions…… i promise to take all these actions……

  17. Hariharan says:

Really thinking on this and I got the answer where I expected. I decided today to post a mail to ask what can we do to stop terrorism

  18. Anupam says:

    Jai Gurudev…

You know this is so true…i myself am so sick of all the people who cringe everytime they see a bomb blast news…its become so normal now though…i mean in a day or 2 people just forget!!!! its just become so casual…i mean people say the true spirit of mumbai is that it bounces back and goes back to its life very soon..but in reality that is precisely why terrorism is becoming more rampant…because we have become indifferent to it now…all we care about is going back tow ork the next day because we want to earn that money for our families…

Its so uncool…its just SO uncool…

  19. Abhay says:

  25. Abhishek says:

    Yes, Gurudev said (not verbatim)
“…….those who pray are not taking responsibility. Those who take responsibility don’t pray…
I pray and take responsibility, both at the same time”
