The Pink Panther 2

As a child i had seen every single Pink Panther movie and gleefully followed the utterly insane antics of Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, and couldn’t wait for the next instalment of craziness :) … and was quite heartbroken when i learned that Peter Sellers died, coz that i thought would be the end of my much loved Pink Panther series …

When Bam! out of the blue i saw The Pink Panther released (again) and went and saw it last year or was it a year before that and nearly fell off the chair laughing at the madness of Steve Martin as the bumbling(!) and brilliant(?) Inspector Clouseau and the inimitable John Cleese as his Chief Inspector…If you have still not seen that movie do yourself a favour and see it, its really funny!

A few days earlier while i was strolling in a mall in Delhi, i came across a poster… Pink Panther 2!!!

So we went and saw it today at a new INOX that has opened up in Jayanagar…

A thief is at large… The Shroud of Turin, The Magna Carta and a holy sword in Japan have been stolen… At the scene of each crime is a card that only says “Le Tornado” … A dream team of the world’s best detectives has been assembled and Clouseau has (naturally) been made a part of it. Just as he is leaving France to goto Japan, the pride of all of France, the priceless Pink Panther diamond was stolen as well by Le Tornado …

So all the detectives get together in Paris to chase down the villian… Clues (or lack of them) lead them all over the continent and what follows is a delightful romp all over Europe… Utterly slapstick, total dhamaal… the comedy is fast and furious. With ludicrous situations coming quick, one after the other all the way till the interval (i especially loved the scene at the Vatican), after which unfortunately the movie doesn’t quite hold it together and the ending according to me could have been much better…

Steve Martin and John Cleese steal the show. And i loved Lily Tomlin as Clouseau’s personal coach teaching him political correctness :)

btw, Aishwarya Rai Bachaan also is part of the cast…

I would definitely watch this movie once. Just for the record, the first one i saw 3 times :)

And just in case you are wondering it is NOT a cartoon :) :)

Jai Gurudeva!

love

bawa

PS Happy Holi!

Yes Bau , Surely the movie is great, i saw the pink panther with all my school friends in 2006, at that time my 10th board exams were just over, from there on i started loving Steve martin and his enormous personality……..cum le Damburger..all my friends relished every moment of that movie…..and i was eagerly waiting for this movie and turned up seeing it late as it didn’t get released in Chandigarh so i saw it in the first week of march in Delhi with all the more enthusiasm as an Indian actress was featuring in the movie but it turned out to be a dissapointment as she was not at all up to mark…..but never the less the movie was fanatic and it is a must watch like the Yes+ which is a must do course.
I shared it all ‘parceque je aime beaucoup le cinema”

  9. Jai Gurudev, Bau..

Small correction…in the first Steve Martin Pink Panther movie, It wasn’t John Cleese as Chief Inspector Dreyfuss, but Kevin Kline. I’m not even sure you’ll read this, but there you are..
