And then…

The Ashram had just expanded all the way to Kashyapa (Today’s Guruji’s Secretariat office) and we were allotted a room over there for all 15 of us… We went there and crashed, a blissful, serene, quiet, restful sleep to awaken the next morning to the birdsong and of course people shouting at each other to get out of the loo! :)

The exam fever, the long hours of studying, the fatigue were all washed away and Bombay and IIT already seemed a distant dream, just one might in the Ashram had miraculously energized all of us, and everyone was eager for the Adv course to start… and this one was being taught by Mikey… a funny little man who walked with a slight limp, and this was our first experience with a teacher other than Rajshree, Phillip or Kiran, and we went in there very expectantly to see what precious gems of Knowledge he would give us… And we were not disappointed, everyone enjoyed the sessions with him, especially his Bhastrika for a very lazy man… You have to ask him about it, i am not going to tell :)

But there was still a full day to go before the Adv course started and we just lazed around and pretty soon it was evening and time for Satsang and for many in the group their first glimpse of Guruji!

Satsang was glorious, beautiful singing, Guruji resplendent as usual completely charmed everyone… and all too soon, the day was over… tomorrow we started early in the morning, Yoga at 5:00 am!

And as i was hurrying to get to Kashyapa going through the Admin Block, somehow i slipped and twisted my ankle… Excruciating pain shot through my body, i had to blink back tears in my eyes and within seconds my ankle had swollen to the size of a well baked bread… Then and there i had to be taken to the city to a hospital, where my foot was put in a plaster … and i spent my first and only night in a hospital (Vikram had come along too)… By morning, the pain had mostly gone and i had already mastered the art of hopping on one foot :) Couldn’t wait to get back to the Ashram…

I told Vikram just open the lift doors and clear the way… and i hopped full speed from my room to the lift. Various doctors and nurses gaped at me and told Vikram take care of him… to which vikram replied i have not been sent here to take care of him, i have been sent here to control him! :)

With my foots condition Kashyapa was out of the question, so was the Adv course and most tragically so was satsang… Even with crutches, there was no way i would be able to navigate all those beautiful winding paths and so i was confined to a room in the admin block one of the few at that time to have an attached toilet… And so began one of the most joyful and frustrating times i have had on the Bangalore Ashram….

Jai Gurudeva!

love

bawa

LOL :) Bawa…nice to hear that its not just us mere mortals that undergo normal things such as twisted ankles at the Ashram. I twisted mine so bad during the Silver Jubilee that I was enlightened for a moment (could’nt be anything else since I was looking at Gurudev when it happened) .

even i had similar experinces i was almost down with a gastrities problem and could not walk too much and suffered for 4days without any medicine(was in silence so could not speak about the pain:))) in my advanced course with guruji.
But Miraculously the pain was healed by guruji in my dreams on the last day when i was asleep in the night.

Ha Ha Bau, Jai guru dev. I had a similar experience this Navratri when I slipped and broke my metatarsal. I had to spend the whole week in a cast and had to miss one day of pooja and watch the rest from the side (along with senior citizens). But like you said it was a beautiful experience. Even some of my friends actually commented that I was looking brighter after I broke my leg :-)

I actually got so inspired that I wrote a post after that. Would feel nice if you check it out and let me know your comments :-) . Link is below
    My post

Can’t wait to read your story of twists and turns on Monday :-)
